Learner Analysis - A three pronged approach was used to identify the most compelling issues
faculty face when moving from the face to face classroom to an online
teaching/learning environment. The first prong
a needs assessment, identified faculty support needs from multiple perspectives;
faculty, faculty support staff, and administration provided input into
a survey that sought to identify professional development needs in the
area of online instruction.. The second prong examined
current literature to see what the experts are saying. Where there a set
of competencies that faculty needed in order to be effective in the online
teaching/learning environment? The final or third
prong used a multi-staged approach to map learner needs to research
results and grant objectives to form a final document of modules to be
developed by the grant.
